Talking to myself

Well, the #1 nephew's GF had her sonagram yesterday....we now know that we have yet another boy coming...he is due right around my birthday!
Gotta love those boys! So to celebrate his coming, I shopped. I am the ultimate bargain hunter, a local upscale dept. store at the mall has 80% off the lowest price...oh yeah! I got him size 6 and 9 month winter outfits, along with a cute snowsuit, one that is a snowsuit with a bag like thing that covers it and you can put the car seat belt through an opening in it. I spent all of 50 bucks and got 500 dollars worth of stuff.

#2 Son had his 20th birthday a couple of days ago. Was a milestone one for me, after 10 years of having a teenager, i no longer have one. I was blessed, my teenagers were a riot, always fun and never any of the normal teenage angst that I see some of my nephews dealing with. I think it is because my sons were what I will very lovingly refer to as Geeks. Yay for geek kids, they make life pleasant. They liked to be at home, made good grades, could care less about what the other kids wore, always have worn pants that cover their rear ends. I think the reason they were easy is because they each had a "passion" something they could focus their energy on, outside themselves. Their friends were equally geeky too, the oldest always hung with the music kids, and the youngest with the math and science kids...yeah, he was in the chess club too.

#4 brother stopped by my work to visit for a few minutes yesterday. He has 3 sons, 19, 17, and 10. His 19 and 17 are really struggling with life, he looks for advice, but I just don't have any to offer, trying to fix kids at that age is too late. They aren't bad, they just exist, the oldest quit school and received his GED, the second has been in and out of different schools, is now going to the alternative HS, but will quit when he turns 18 this summer. They just don't have any goals for their futures, and you can't force goals on a person, they have to set them themselves. I wish I could help him, cause he is sad, because he knows they will live the same life as he has led, one that took him until 35 years old and 3 kids to grow up. The 10 year, so far so good with that one, he is an honor student, an athlete, and a all around good kid..you know what they say, 2 outa 3 ain't bad.

Back to nephew #1, the kid is following in his aunts (me) footsteps, did a couple years of college and is now a restaurant manager...i love it. We talk "shop" on the instant messenger.

Funny thing is my son #1 is following in my brother #2 footsteps, brother #2 is nephew #1's dad...got that? brother 2 and #1 son, both graduated from a technical type college, both spent a few years in Florida, and now they both live in Ohio and are involved in some aspect with the entertainment industry.
